The great thing about building you own machine is that you get only want you want. And you get it cheaper!

The bad thing about it is that if for some misterous reason it stops working, you may very likley spend weeks trying to fix it. Or you have to pay some techie too much to break it even more for you.

I have built my own machine, but now it isnt working. I cant fix it either, because i havnt the time to. If only i had bought it from somewere and it was in warrenty.

Argh! there must be an alround solution to this. I want the carrot cake and the wine.

Well, When you buy the components for you computer, you have the same year warrenty that you have when you buy the whole computer (at least here it works that way)... and it isn't that hard to figure out wich component isn't working properly... not too much time consuming

I've always put toguether my computers and really prefer to do that. That way I'll get everytime the computer that I really want to have :)

It really pays off the work that we have assembling it (I don't know if this is well written), or having to oppen it once in a while to check what went wrong.

Besides, I've always like to work with the hardware too :)

I also perfer to build my puters myself because I can choose the parts.
If you buy a pre built computer, odds are that some of the parts are the cheap kind.

About warranty, well.... the store will tell you, "no problem bring it in" .. and you will stay 2 weeks without the puter anyway. Then the store owners like to think that it's a software problem (that means, your fault)so, they will reformat your HD before even trying to fix it.
