Add rooms and user list to chat room

Hi, I downloaded the chat room code for my website and it works great. I edited it so it gets the users's name from when the log into my site. I would like to know how I can display the names of who is currently on logged into the chat and how to add multiple rooms. If I can just get an idea of where to start I would greatly appreciate it.
