Lesson 22: Restarting PWS
Summary:
Did your PWS freeze up your machine just because you forgot an RS.MoveNext?
Learn to restart your PWS without restarting your machine!
Intro:
Come on, admit it! You have just finished a page where you loop through a record
set, you load the page up, and suddenly PWS freezes! Damn, you forgot
that RS.MoveNext! And now your PWS loops forever!! You go into the
PWS manager to start and stop your PWS, but that doesn't help. So you do that
fun ritual of rebooting your machine...
Well not any more!
Here's a little trick I got from my friend Stephen. Download this ZIP file,
unzip it into your PWS directory (Probably C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\INETSRV, just search for PWS.EXE),
then make a shortcut from Restart.Bat to your desktop and you are done!!
Whenever PWS freezes just double click on the shortcut.
